Planning Portfolio
Hello! I'm Peter Meyer, a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign majoring in Urban Studies and Planning.
My academic and professional journey is driven by my strong passion for land use, community planning, and GIS. I have worked to ground my education in practical application, ranging from a municipal planning internship in my hometown to service as a Graphic Design Intern for my university department.
Before arriving in Urbana-Champaign, I studied for two years at the College of Lake County. Navigating the transfer process from community college taught me better how to self-advocate and adapt to new environments. I am proud of my non-linear path, while maintaining consistent academic honors along the way, as it required a higher level of focus and drive while keeping me grounded to my community.
Outside the classroom, I believe in leading by example. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout instilled a lifelong commitment to cheerful service and project management. Professionally, my time as a Starbucks Shift Supervisor, where I was recognized as Partner (Employee) of the Quarter, taught me not only how to create but maintain a welcoming environment while leading a team under pressure, and driving operational success.
In my free time I enjoy staying physically active, and love to snowboard and play volleyball. Even after departing from the barista life, I still hold coffee craft close as I am a certified Starbucks Coffee Master.
This website is a showcase of my work through my time at UIUC, as well as internships and leadership roles that have shaped my approach to planning.
Best,
Peter Meyer
